Not a good start of the day
I had a rude awakening in the middle of the night when the cord holding the canvas over my shelter snapped and the front of the shelter started slipping off the roof. 🙁
The rain kept creeping towards me, the wind was howling and it was pretty scary, and where were my owners? Nicely tucked up and warm in bed! Not a care in the world ! Unbelievable ! you’d think that with a wind weather warning in place they would keep a 24 hour watch on me and my shelter!
They are so irresponsible, I had to wait till 8am. Chris was about to go to his weekly canoeing session and realise something something was amiss… he got Murielle out of her warm bed and she came help putting it all together again.
Then the cheeky mare took one look at me and said, you’re dirty but I don’t have time to clean you before we go, so I had to go and meet my sisters with a rain spattered bonnet! I felt like if I was letting myself down.
The starting point
I don’t care if it was cold, windy and raining, it felt great to be on the road again. Murielle drove me to the Braye car park where I met up with my sisters, it was great to catch up with those that were brave enough to come out from their warm garages.
SInce I was dirty and Scarlet was all red and shiny, she took the lead today, I sneaked in 3rd place though, I don’t like to be at the back of the queue after all ! I must begrudgingly admit that Scarlet choose a lovely route to take us to the zoo.
Our little tin snail convoy sneaked through the lanes of the country parishes, lots of bends and really small roads… if we’d be going a little bit faster, I could have taken some bends on 2 wheels…
We eventually arrived at the Zoo, so the humans could use the cafe to get refreshments, The showers had relented so they hanged around on the car park a little while before finally leaving us to it. Scarlet and I had a good natter, comparing our celebrity statuses since a shot taken of us from Debbie’s wedding last summer had been sent to the 2cv GB club and we had appeared in they magazine… Woohooo we’re national pin ups now, move over page 3 girls, the 2cvs are in town!
This was far too short, Murielle drove me back home via St Helier and she choose to brave the wind on the esplanade, what fun, I was dancing on the road, off to one side, then another, but mind you she did a reasonable job of keeping me in the left lane.
The it was back in my shelter, front wheels firmly on the plank that holds the frame down, mind you with winds force 10 announced for tonight, I might take off with my shelter… I bet I’ll be the first flying 2cv in Jersey… What wouldn’t I do for fame….
