Rub a dub dub…
It started with a rub a dub dub, I didn’t get 3 men in a tub with me because there wasn’t any tub involved, but… I did get a rub, a full wash, soap and dry treatment, better than going to the spa! Oh boy, it felt so good, it hadn’t happen in a while, Murielle has grown lazy since I have my own garage to sleep in.
And then, for the first time ever, she brought out a contraption nearly as noisy as me, called a hoover, and cleaned all my insides. It tickled !!! What a weird sensation, I guess there is a first time for everything. Mind you, she warned Chris that he may want to take a picture because she had no intention to use it in the home ! Needless to say, Chris was so shocked to see her operating the hoover that he forgot to take the picture, he had to sit down!
Dressing up…
I must say that I got the full treatment, the tulle rolls came out ant soon enough I found myself with red and white bows wrapped on my bonnet, windscreen wipers and door handles…. This make me think that something was going to happen.
Picking up passengers…
Unbeknown to me, Murielle had offered my services as a wedding ride… She is pimping me out, seriously?!?
It would have been ungrateful to misbehave and refuse to start… So on the button, my little engine started to purr, in a way I was just happy to be seen out in all my finery… It took me nearly half and hour to get to the bottom of Beaumont hill, there was a car stopped at the airport round about, blocking the flow of traffic. Then I forced Murielle to make an unscheduled stop to shut the roof as the rain started to come down (there is no way I’m getting wet, must have been a cat in my past life).
I finally arrived at the Bride’s home all ready to take her and her mother to the registry. I must admit, they did me proud, their outfits were stunning. For a second or two I thought I was going to be upstaged… Nah, not possible!
The registry…
I arrived at the registry fashionably late, (well it is tradition to deliver the bride a little later than the agreed time). This suited me fine as this way, I could be admired by the full wedding party, after all I was the first thing they saw.
After the bride disappeared in the registry office to “do the deed”, I made Murielle turn me around to face the exit and patiently waited for the ceremony to finish. I reminded Murielle that she had to fit my “Just married, 2cv style” sign on the boot, and then preen myself and model for the random people walking past the registry. I had my picture taken so many time in half an hour that I lost count… Mirror, mirror, who is the prettiest of them all? Me of course !
But this didn’t finish there, as the father of the groom was so engrossed in taking my picture that he nearly missed the group picture…. I do love having fans, it feels so good to bask in their admiration…
Finally…
Outside registry pictures all done, I had the pleasure to drive the bride and groom away. I must say that I couldn’t help having a quiet giggle. The groom was sooooo tall, he had to do some yoga poses to get in an out of the back seat… Nearly needed a can opener, but I wouldn’t allow it, imagine the damage this would have made to my paintwork?
I tootled along to Grouville, then Gorey to deposit them to their reception venue before the guests arrived. After wishing the happy couple all the best for their life together, it was time to take Murielle back home and get some well earned shut eye in the garage…
Good night!
