14th July is a double celebration
Today is the day the French people celebrate the birth of the republic with the abolition of their monarchy with the fall of La Bastille (infamous Parisian Prison) in 1789. It is also the day that I became part of the Nicolas household, so a good (some may say better) reason to celebrate 😀. And how better to celebrate than playing with balloons?
New Hairdo
On Monday, in preparation for today’s event, Murielle went mad with the cleaning, rubbing and polish so I am now very shiny… lovely, ready to go out and flirt with all type of incoming vehicles, bring it on, “girls want to have fun” after all (Cyndi Lauper).
I wanted to try a new hair style, so Murielle had arranged for Royston South to meet us and provide hair extensions for me. Unbeknown to me they had plotted behind my back and decided to give me a multi-coloured punk Mohican! Can you believe it? A car of my age and class, looking like a punk? I know I am not ready for a blue rinse yet !!! But I looked ridiculous … 😠 The wind was blowing a fair bit too out West and pushing all the hair extension to one side…
And not sure if you can notice but there is a couple of fruitcakes photobombing in nearly all the shots… behind the windscreen or on top of the headlight… Where did these pesky plush toys come from anyway?
Who wants a pet?
I know it’s sort of my birthday and that it is fashionable nowadays to have these little dogs that fit in handbags, but I’ve got no wish for one, (I’ll let you in a little secret, they smell and they cock their legs on my beautiful wheels…. so no thank you).
So help me please, but I am surrounded by human with harebrained ideas, they decided to give me a dog! and made it look like if it was coming from my exhaust pipe. I thought Royston would have more sense than Murielle, but oh no, he is just as bad, and the 2 of them together are like overgrown kids… talk about adult growing older but not growing up, these 2 are a prime example!!! and no Chris to rein them in… poor me! The voice of reason a.k.a Captain sensible went to work this morning leaving 2 overgrown kids in charge….
Back to normal
I did feel very self conscious and mildly grateful that it was only 9 am so the traffic to Corbière lighthouse wasn’t too heavy. Needless to say that I was drawing attention to myself in this awesomely ridiculous get up! Then we wind picked up slightly and it was my turn to laugh as the balloons started escaping from their baskets and flying off. Murielle managed to catch 8 in flight.. not bad reflexes for her age… but then I nearly split my side as both Murielle and Royston had to go chase after the rest of the escapees. At least, it good to know that they are ecologically conscious and were determined to pick up all the flying balloons, not leaving anything behind.
Anyway, back to normal and a quick drive to Le Braye so the humans can have a coffee and plan their next mischief !
