Beautiful day
Yesterday was foggy, rainy and foggy again, but it’s about normal weather when Murielle books a day off work.. So we can all blame her for the rubbish weather and my lack of movement. The weather has been so so this week and I managed to take Murielle to work 2 days in row, it had been a long time since I had been able to go out two days in a row.
Today started grey but it cleared out in the morning and Chris and Murielle took me for a drive this afternoon. I was supposed to be a half way tour of the island but I somehow managed to persuade them to do a full island tour 🙂
🎼I’m so pretty, oh so pretty… 🎼
And it’s an understatement, we got caught in the traffic of the rugby Match in St Peter, and as people were walking towards the rugby field for the match, I started to notice that heads were turning my way.
We crossed the avenue & Georgetown without noticing anything unusual, then passed La Rocque, with Murielle trying to spot good stopping places to take shots of me, then instead of turning back home as planned, I carried on going towards Gorey without my humans noticing. A fine looking gentleman gave me the thumbs us so I raised my headlights proudly and did a litlle wiggle with my tail lights whilst passing in front of him. Oh I also waved at Jo (Celeste’s owner) when I spotted her unusual pink mop of hair walking with her dogs towards the beach.
I headed to St Catherine where Chris reversed me on the slip so that Murielle could take pictures of me sheltered from the wind and with the break water in the background. I did notice people pointing at me and smiling. My humans seemed completely oblivious of the fact and carried on talking. When they decided it was time to go, I obliged and gladly climbed the gentle slope of the slip back up. Once at the top a bus was waiting for its tourists to return to its innards; a man just about to climb aboard, stopped, did a 360∘ turn just to watch me go. Of course, I slowed down to oblige and winked at him with my head lights as I was passing by.
I am popular today….
After St Catherine, I was feeling brave and in need of exercise so we took a steep turn on the hill heading to Fliquet and Rozel. Came head to head with a couple of cyclist from the younger generation (10 – 13 year old) who gave me an enthusiastic wave, I couldn’t help but hooting in response. Well I am a friendly car after all 🙂
Another slipway for me in Rozel for more posing ( I can’t help it, I am so photogenic). The only problem was that there were a lot of people hovering on the slipway when I arrived and Chris & Murielle had to wait for them to move before they could place me in a strategic spot to take pictures. My humans got out of the car, Murielle changed the settings on her camera, Chris got nabbed by the males of the group… Who were asking me if I’d been restored, how much mileage, etc. etc… I sniggered whilst watching Chris standing up straight, head proud and starting to recite my history (proud as a peacock) .. but had to laugh when Murielle waited for him to finish before piping up sweetly: “I am glad you are so proud of my car darling!” well that caused a few comments…
The group departed and I was positioned for the optimum picture opportunity when a woman came running from the other side of the beach, it was Armelle, a French lady on holiday who had knocked at Murielle’s door asking to take my picture a couple of days ago. It turns out that Armelle is also a 2cv owner and whilst she left my sister behind and came to Jersey without her, she was so pleased to find me
she had to take my picture… Armelle and Murielle had a little chat and another couple arrived with the gentleman asking if he could have his picture taken with me. So I put my best side forward and his wife took my picture (with him as my sidekick) and Murielle took one too 🙂
After all that excitement, Chris & Murielle were worried that I would get a big head and decided to leave Rozel and get a refreshment at the zoo on the way home. We returned home via the north side, uneventfully as there wasn’t much traffic on the road, but I did manage to collect a few more smile.
Do you think I should start charging for people to be photographed with me? I could perhaps get more work done on my body with the funds? I want to but Murielle doesn’t think it is a good idea, she is such a stick in the mud!
